Punch Bowl Market

There is a place not too far away, called Punch Bowl Market, that is heaven for anyone who loves traditional, homemade baked goods. Things like cookies and pies, breads and cakes, but most of all squares. Oh, the squares. They have a huge selection and they’re all so yummy. When you have a craving for a date or lemon square, and there’s not a church bake sale or grandma in sight – this is where you go. And when you’re there, you also pick up Nanaimo bars, Raspberry Cloud squares, Cranberry Cheesecake squares – pretty much one of everything. This place is trouble for anyone with a weakness for sweets – don’t say you weren’t warned!

The Market is in a beautiful red barn, and I wanted to capture a bit of that rustic feel but without the layout being too themed or distressed looking. I wanted to use red, blue, and green, but I wanted to avoid a child-like primary colour scheme. I went for colours that are toned down, and with the blue I went for a darker shade, and with the green, a lighter tint. That variety helps when you want to use a primary colourway in a more subtle way.
